Why Math Songs?
There is a strange connection between music and mathematics. In music, the form and the medium are the same and in mathematics, the study and the methods are the same. Music is the only art form that does this and mathematics is the only science that does this. Math is is the study of math using math, and music is created and experienced as music. Both music and math are experienced as pure objects of the brain, and both have meaning outside of the brain only by artificial connections. We here at math songs believe that this makes for a unique learning opportunity
Many scientists believe that reading and singing while listening to music strengthens the connections between the brain cells that are most used. Both sides of the brain are activated when singing and because the brain is a “pattern seeker” it then puts the information into an organized way which makes it much easier to remember, which is why math songs are so effective

I have arranged my math songs into three subjects, algebra, pre-algebra, and geometry math songs. Click on whichever subject you are interested in, listen to a part of each song, decide which ones you want and then add them to your shopping cart. It’s that easy. Once payment has posted, you can download your math song and the lyrics and start singing your own math songs.

My wife is a middle school math teacher and she has been singing little songs that she makes up using the math concepts that her kids sometimes find hard to follow. She says it is amazing how much more information they retain when they sing these instead of just learning them. She is now learning the guitar so that she can play along as she sings. Your songs are really good and I will pass this onto her.

Thanks so much. i have found the same. The kids really remember when they sing and what’s more, they love to do it. It is a shame that now with all the push for testing that i just don’t seem to have as much time to do this with the kids.
I hope your wife will be able to use my songs to help her students for many years. please stop and let us know how it goes.

I wish they had these kind of songs during my school days. I was really bad with Maths. I could see how these simple tunes could help kids remember how to do the problems

I sincerely think that these songs are great in helping in improving my son’s Maths skills. He got a B after practicing with them. Even though it was not a perfect A yet, at least he is improving from getting D to a B. I think I will continue letting him listening to the songs.

Songs help kids remember things they are learning about in science, math and social studies. Singing is a fun way to learn!
